Mr. & Mrs. Winingar

Congratulations to the Winingars! Today was Robin & Brian's wedding day. ♥ My mom and I had the pleasure of shooting their engagement pictures a few weeks ago. They are such a lovely couple!

You can view all the photos on Facebook or on Flickr.

Merry (almost) Christmas!

Supermoon 2013

Yesterday I found out that tonight the moon is at it's largest of the year! I knew I had to go take some pictures of it. I read up online about taking pictures of the moon on MCP Actions and Capture Your 365 which were really helpful.

I was non-triumphant at first because I couldn't zoom in enough and most of the shots were blurry. Even in this one which was focused, you couldn't see the detail in the moon, though I do like how the trees are silhouetted. This was around 8pm.

So, I went inside again to try and find my mom's zoom lense, and had no luck (though it was right in front of me, doh!). When my parents got home around 9:15pm, we got my mom's lense and went down to the bay. We did some test shots in the yard and it was much better. I was still disappointed because I wasn't as close as I would've liked to been, but I shouldn't have worried because once I edited it in Lightroom 3, I was able to zoom in more. So, then we headed to the bay. We were going to try to get picture with the water in the shot also, but I only brought the zoom lense and we couldn't back up far enough. We were able to get a shot of the moon with no trees or anything else in the way, though! Here is my best shot. I cropped it and also bumped up the black to enhance to moon's details.

I think it was pretty successful for my first serious moon shoot! At least next time I'll know what to expect.

I hope y'all got some great shots of the moon tonight!

Sue Dyess Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago I did I photo shoot for my wonderful Grandma Sue. She has a trio of local history paintings in a local retirement home, and they wanted to have a portrait of the artist to hang beside them. She asked me and my mom if we could take some new pictures of her, and I volunteered to help out. :) It was good to get some experience behind the camera as a real photographer!

You can view all of the pictures on Flickr or Facebook.
